Q.....Do you make samples for my specific choices?
A. If you don’t chose from my assortment of techniques/colors, I will custom make 3 sample boards, after the contract is signed.
Additional boards will be created at a charge of $25.00 each, to cover cost of materials. Once you approve a board, I’ll get your signature on it which is proof of the finish chosen. All boards will remain the property of Wall Nouveau. This is why it is important to have all of the decision makers at the meeting.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. Most finishes are priced per actual square foot, per application & also the product factor. Simpler finishes will range from $3 per square foot up to around $5 per square foot. More complex finishes can range from $5-$10 per square foot, with the most complicated designs reaching around $15 per square foot or more. Other factors that contribute to cost are the condition and preparation of the surface, the difficulty of reaching the area to be finished (i. e. ceiling or stairwell), whether special equipment (such as scaffolding) or special materials (such as gold leafing or a customized art imprint) are needed, and whether the scope or time frame of the job requires the artist to hire assistants.
Finishes on furniture and other items vary and are charged by the estimated time. The price to paint kitchen cabinets start at $100.00 a door.
Other factors are equipment used, height of the wall or ceiling, the condition of the walls. Even the toweled on finishes like plasters, do not fill the holes. The wall has to be like a prepared canvas. A wall painted flat has to be clear coated if the color is kept or the wall has to be painted again in an eggshell or satin.
What products do you use?
The paints that I use are 100% acrylic latex, all water based. They have improved over the years and can be trusted even on furniture. The plasters and textured paints are also of the aqua line.
How do I prepare for you?
The work area should be clear of furniture or objects. I have to get around the room. I can’t count the times a client says OK & when I get there nothing is moved. It will delay the start of the job & if there is a problem with it being ready on the start date, call to let me know.
There should not be any children or animals allowed in the room. I had that in writing and a little 7 year old came into her bedroom where I was doing a mural for her and she began to tell me how to do it. The mother then said: “Listen to her”. ????
The layers can’t be judged by someone who has never done it before. Yes, they look weird in the making, but don’t fret; I know what I am doing. The owner of a restaurant had a fit, screaming, running around etc. then on the last day he was very happy. This puts a lot of unnecessary stress on us all!
How long will it take?
This depends on you. How long do you want me to work? I have been known to go on until 2 in the morning. I have worked overnight & saw the sun rise while driving home. I am flexible.
